Getting Started with OMU

How to Create an Account

  1. Click the "Sign Up" button in the top right corner of any page
  2. Enter your full name, email address, and create a secure password
  3. Agree to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
  4. Click "Sign Up" to create your account
  5. Check your email for a verification link and click it to verify your account
  6. Complete your profile by adding a profile picture and bio (optional but recommended)

You can also sign up using your Google or Facebook account for faster registration.

Listing Your First Item

  1. Click "List an Item" in the navigation menu
  2. Upload 1-5 high-quality photos of your item (the first will be the cover image)
  3. Enter a clear, descriptive title for your item
  4. Select the appropriate category
  5. Write a detailed description including condition, what's included, and any special instructions
  6. Set your daily and optional weekly rental price in CHF
  7. Add an optional security deposit to protect your item
  8. Enter your city and optionally your full address (only shared after booking)
  9. Click "Publish Listing" to make your item available for rent

Tips for a great listing:

  • Use clear, well-lit photos from multiple angles
  • Be honest about the item's condition
  • Price competitively by checking similar items
  • Respond quickly to inquiries

Making Your First Rental

  1. Browse items by category or search for what you need
  2. Click on an item to view its details, photos, and owner information
  3. Check availability and pricing
  4. Click "Request to Book" to send a booking request to the owner
  5. Wait for the owner to accept your request (usually within 24 hours)
  6. Once accepted, arrange pickup details with the owner via messages
  7. Meet the owner at the agreed location and time
  8. Inspect the item before taking it
  9. Enjoy using the item and return it on time in the same condition

Remember: Always communicate clearly with the owner and treat borrowed items with care.

Setting Up Your Profile

  1. Click on your profile icon in the top right corner
  2. Select "My Profile" from the dropdown menu
  3. Click "Edit Profile" to update your information
  4. Add a profile picture (helps build trust with other users)
  5. Write a brief bio about yourself
  6. Add your phone number for easier communication
  7. Verify your email address if you haven't already
  8. Click "Save Changes" to update your profile

  • Increases your chances of successful rentals
  • Helps owners feel confident renting to you
  • Makes communication easier
